Seven ways to be understood

Pick the mode, not just the language.

Most people ask for "an interpreter." What they actually need depends on how many listeners there are, whether the meeting can afford to run at half speed, and whether anyone is wearing a headset. Here is the honest version of each.

Simultaneousসাইমাল্টেনিয়াস

The interpreter talks while the speaker talks.

Three to five seconds behind, delivered into headsets from a booth or a portable transmitter. The meeting runs at full speed and nobody waits.

  • Team2 interpreters per language, rotating every 20–30 minutes
  • KitBooth or tour-guide set, one receiver per listener
  • Best forConferences, AGMs, launches, training rooms, anything over 20 listeners
Consecutiveকনসিকিউটিভ

Speak, pause, hear it back.

The speaker stops every one to three minutes; the interpreter delivers from notes. Plan for the meeting to take roughly twice as long — and to be twice as precise.

  • Team1 interpreter up to 4 hours
  • KitNone
  • Best forNegotiations, board meetings, audits, press briefings, signings
Whisperedchuchotage

One voice, one or two listeners.

The interpreter sits beside your guest and whispers the meeting as it happens. Simultaneous speed without a single piece of equipment in the room.

  • Team1 interpreter up to 2 hours, then 2
  • KitNone
  • Best forA single foreign buyer in a Bangla meeting, hearings, factory boardrooms
Liaison & escortএসকর্ট

Someone who stays with them all day.

Airport pickup, factory floor, showroom, hospital corridor, dinner. Both directions, informal register, and enough sector knowledge to know what a PP meeting or an OT slot is.

  • Team1 interpreter, half or full day
  • KitNone
  • Best forBuyer visits, delegations, hospital days, sourcing trips
Over the phoneOPI

A three-way call, usually within the hour.

You dial, we bridge an interpreter in, and the call proceeds consecutively. No travel time, no half-day minimum, billed in blocks.

  • Team1 interpreter
  • KitAny phone or WhatsApp call
  • Best forSupplier clarifications, embassy follow-ups, urgent shipment problems
Video remoteVRI

Your interpreter joins the meeting link.

Zoom, Teams or Google Meet — consecutively as a participant, or simultaneously on a separate language channel where the platform supports it.

  • Team1 interpreter, or 2 if simultaneous
  • KitYour meeting link and a wired headset for every speaker
  • Best forOverseas buyers, remote consultations, cross-border interviews
Bangla Sign LanguageBdSL · বাংলা ইশারা ভাষা

Sign language access for persons with disabilities.

Where your programme carries an accessibility commitment for persons with disabilities (PwD), sign language is the measure that reaches deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees. BdSL interpreters for ceremonies, government programmes, training, televised events and donor-funded activities. Platform position, lighting and sightlines get planned in advance — we will tell you where the interpreter needs to stand.

  • Team2 interpreters for anything over 1 hour
  • KitClear sightline, dedicated lighting, plain backdrop
  • Best forPublic events, ceremonies, broadcasts, inclusive workplaces

Booth brief

Tell us the room. We'll tell you the setup.

Four questions. You get the mode we would actually recommend, how many interpreters it takes, what goes in the room, and an indicative price — before you speak to anybody.

How the number is built

Rates you can check line by line.

Interpretation is priced on time, not words. Below is how we build a quote, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.

Base day rates · Bangla ⇄ target language · indicative, in BDT

Included in every assignment

  • Signed non-disclosure agreement before the interpreter is named
  • Glossary and background pack reviewed in advance
  • Interpreter on site 30 minutes early, dressed for your room
  • A named coordinator on WhatsApp for the whole assignment
  • Written confirmation of scope, times and rate before the date is held

Billed on top

  • Language tier. Common pairs sit at the base rate. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian and European languages carry a tier uplift; rare pairs more.
  • Overtime. Charged per started hour beyond the booked block, at the hourly rate.
  • Travel outside Dhaka. Transport, accommodation and a travel day where the schedule needs one.
  • Equipment. Booths, transmitters, receivers and the technician, quoted separately.
  • Short notice. Bookings confirmed under 24 hours before start carry a rush uplift, subject to availability.

Payment

Corporate accounts are invoiced with 50% on confirmation and the balance within 7 days of the assignment. One-off bookings are settled in advance by bKash, Nagad, bank transfer or card. Cancellation inside 48 hours is charged at half the booked value — the interpreter has already turned other work down.

Where we work

Vocabulary is the job.

A fluent speaker who has never stood on a knitting floor will translate "GSM" as a phone network. We staff by sector first, language second.

Apparel & sourcing

Buyer visits, PP and fit meetings, line walks, price negotiations and social or technical audits. Interpreters who already know what a lab dip, a shade band and a CAP are, in Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Turkish and Spanish.

Machinery & commissioning

Chinese, Korean, Japanese and German engineers installing lines, training operators and handing over manuals. Long assignments, technical registers, and interpreters who stay for the whole install rather than the first morning.

Health & medical travel

Consultations in Dhaka hospitals, and support for patients heading to India, Thailand, Singapore or Türkiye — pre-departure briefings, doctor calls, discharge summaries read back in plain Bangla to the family.

Legal & notarial

Statements, affidavits sworn before a notary, contract signings, arbitration sittings and inheritance matters. Faithful rendering only — the interpreter never advises, summarises or answers on your behalf.

Immigration & embassy

Visa interviews, biometric appointments, application-centre visits and pre-interview practice, coordinated with THB Visa Services when the file and the interpreter should come from the same desk.

Conferences & development

Donor missions, multi-day workshops, field visits and board sittings for NGOs and development partners. Booths, receivers and a technician if you need them; a rapporteur summary afterwards if you ask.

Government & diplomatic

Delegation programmes, MoU signings, courtesy calls and protocol events. Discreet, briefed on titles and forms of address, and comfortable working to a fixed order of proceedings.

Pilgrimage & travel groups

Arabic-speaking escorts for Umrah and Hajj groups, plus tour and delegation escorts arranged with THB Go! so the interpreter, the visa and the itinerary sit in one file.

The roster

40+ languages, in and out of Bangla.

Everything below runs against Bangla or English. If a pair has no direct interpreter in Bangladesh — Bangla to Amharic, say — we relay through a pivot language and tell you plainly that we are doing it.

Equipment

The hardware that makes simultaneous possible.

Rented with a technician who stays for the session, tests every receiver before doors open, and hands them out and collects them back so your team doesn't have to.

Tour-guide system

A pocket transmitter for the interpreter and lightweight receivers for listeners. Works while walking — the reason it is the standard for factory floors and site visits.

Sets of 25 · additional receivers by the unit · charging case included

Interpretation booth

A sound-isolated tabletop or full booth with console, headsets and a clear line of sight to the stage. Required for anything long enough that the interpreters need to rotate.

1–2 booths · 2 consoles per booth · installed the evening before

Floor sound

Delegate microphones, chairman unit, speakers and a mixer, patched to the interpreter feed so the booth hears the room clearly rather than through it.

Wired or wireless mics · press-to-talk delegate units · lectern mic

Remote channel setup

Configuration and a dry run of language channels on Zoom or Teams, with a backup audio bridge in case a channel drops mid-session.

Platform check · rehearsal call · standby technician on the day

Countdown to the room

What happens between your call and the meeting.

Interpreters do not read minds; they read your material. The preparation window is where the quality actually comes from.

  1. T−7 days

    You brief the desk

Date, times, venue, language pair, who is in the room and what they intend to achieve. We confirm mode, team size and rate in writing and hold the slot.

  2. T−3 days

    We build the glossary

Send agendas, decks, contracts, product specs, prior minutes, names and job titles. The interpreter studies them under NDA and returns a term list for you to correct — your house terms win over the dictionary.

  3. T−1 day

    Technical check

For simultaneous or remote work: equipment installed and tested, or the platform channels rehearsed on a dry-run call. For on-site work: route, gate pass and PPE confirmed.

  4. T−0

    In the room

The interpreter arrives 30 minutes early, meets both sides, and agrees signals for "slow down" and "repeat that." Your coordinator is reachable on WhatsApp throughout.

  5. T+1 day

    Handover

Term list and any noted action points sent to you. Working files are deleted on request. If the assignment continues, the same interpreter continues with it wherever possible.

The rules our interpreters work under

Accuracy, confidentiality, and staying out of the way.

Every interpreter placed by THB signs the same code before an assignment is confirmed. You can ask for a copy.

  • Faithful rendering. Everything said is conveyed — including the parts one side would rather soften. The interpreter does not edit, summarise or improve on you.
  • First person. The interpreter speaks as you, not about you. No "he says that."
  • Confidentiality. A signed NDA covers every assignment. Documents are handled under it and returned or destroyed afterwards. Sessions are not recorded without your written instruction.
  • No side conversations. Nothing is discussed with the other party outside your hearing, and no opinion or advice is offered on the substance of your business.
  • Declared limits. If a term is unclear or a register is beyond the interpreter's sector, they say so in the room rather than guessing.
  • Impartiality. Interpreters disclose any prior relationship with either party and stand down where there is a conflict.
